PKP InterCity from Gdansk on the Baltic coast to the capital Warsaw in the interior. Our train is TLK 53106 which started from Gdynia at 06.19. The time is now 11.49 and we are about to depart from Ciechanów station on the final leg of our journey to Warsaw. While the middle of the three chapters covering this run was largely rural, this chapter takes us through an urban and industrial landscape. This section is a modernised railway busy with long distance commuter traffic that extends 90km from the capital. Our first call in Warsaw is Warszawa Wschodnia that lies east of the Vistula, the river that divides the city. Here we change our locomotive to an EP09 for the last 5km to Central Station. It’s not as crazy as it sounds -the train will continue south and needs a 160kph locomotive. Filmed in HD. Narrated. RT 80 mins. ©FHP 2013
