In this issue we: visit Antwerp Centraal station – once regarded as a folly of Belgian Imperialism now seen as an architectural masterpiece. The station has been massively enlarged –including a tunnel which transforms this terminal into a through station. Above the tunnel two new levels have been built- one for trains, one for station services. Then we look at Antwerp’s trams – surface running and the underground ‘pre-metro’. We look at passenger and freight trains at Berchem and other places in and outside the city. (35mins)
Our second chapter takes us to the Isle of Man where we look at the Horse Tramway, poignant, as 2015 may be its last year of operation. (10mins)
Our third chapter takes us to Southampton where we look at the Continental model railways displayed at the 2016 Eurotrack model rail show. (16mins)
