Sweden has the longest high speed rail network in Scandinavia - about 1200km of 200kph (or higher) routes. The SJ X2000 is now nearly 20 years old but still manages to look contemporary in its stainless steel and grey livery. In many ways the X2000 was years ahead of its time. Conceived in the 1980s the ADtrans train entered service in 1990; it has an active tilt system permitting 30% higher than normal speeds through curves. Not so the power car which has no such facility! The run to Halmstad (and onward to Gothenburg) was made in Spring 2010 - the weather is lovely, perfect for a run along Sweden’s west coast. The route from Malmö is via Lund and Håssleholm and includes a short run over the Båstad Halmstad 230kph NBS. Includes many off train shots. Narrated. RT100 mins ©FHP 2010
