Arguably the most attractive section of Germany’s best-known waterway is south from Koblenz to Bingen near Mainz.For perspective we start at St Goar, look and visit the Loreley before we watch passenger and freight traffic as they ply their route in close company with the mighty river Rhein. We can watch both banks.
You will see trains from all the usual suspects (DB, DB Cargo, SBB Cargo, TXL, HUPAC plus some you may not have seen before ,such as the one owned by the Bayernbahn – the museum in Nördlingen. The elderly locomotive and rather old SWVs contain product for Schwarzkopf (beauty products) who have a factory near the museum.
